After some pretty major delays, Pling, Montrose’s seriously tempting new destination for Korean dumplings has officially arrived.

Pling owner Jun Hyun tells Eater that the shop quietly opened its doors on November 3, bringing truly innovative takes on traditional dumplings to the space at 223 Westheimer Road. Originally set to open by the end of 2019, construction on the building dragged on longer than expected, delaying Pling’s debut.

As Hyun told Eater last year, the restaurant focuses on a “totally different style” of dumplings than those found at most of the city’s restaurants, which typically focus on traditional Chinese flavors.

The new dumpling spot’s tight menu is almost exclusively focused on dumplings, with options like steamed pork and shrimp gyoza, finger-shaped dumplings stuffed with pork and vegetables, and chicken and veggie “pling” that are slathered in a sweet and spicy sauce. Perhaps the most interesting option on the menu is the cheesy katsu pling, which involves a dumpling stuffed with bulgogi and cheese, then crusted in panko and fried. Everything on the menu is priced at less than $10, which means that it’s easy to feast on a few different types of dumplings without breaking the budget.

Now open for lunch and dinner service, Pling operates Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
