Recently debuted in Copperfield, expect bacon-wrapped dogs on Hawaiian buns at Dog Haus
Dog Haus Biergarten, the California-based eatery known for its all-beef hot dogs, humanely-raised burgers and handcrafted sausages, has finally arrived in Houston.
The restaurant, at 8422 Highway 6 North in the community of Copperfield, just outside of Houston, is already serving diners, and will host a grand opening celebration next weekend, on Saturday, November 21. Its arrival has been a long-time coming — plans to expand to the Bayou City were first announced two years ago. The Houston location joins four other locations in Texas, including near Austin and Dallas.
Dog Haus, which was founded in 2010 in Pasadena, California, serves craft-made hotdogs like the Pineapple Express, a bacon-wrapped dog covered in sweet ginger glaze, pineapple, scallions, pickled jalapeños and crispy onions; and the Sooo Cali, with arugula, avocado, tomato and spicy basil aioli. Earlier this year, Eater LA called the Sooo Cali one of 16 essential hot dogs in Los Angeles.
There are more traditional dogs too, including a chili dog topped with cheese sauce and onions, and a corn dog dipped in root beer batter. The restaurant also serves up sustainably-raised, hand-made sausages like currywurst, chorizo and kielbasa, as well as burgers made with Black Angus beef. Dog Haus also offers local beer on tap and signature “Haus” cocktails developed by Phil Wills of Bar Rescue.
To celebrate its opening, Dog Haus Copperfield is donating 15 percent of sales from its grand opening weekend, November 21-22, to Cowboys 4 Heroes, and organization that helps combat veterans transition to civilian life.
