Texans QB Deshaun Watson bringing Detroit-style cheesesteaks to Houston

Lefty’s Famous Cheesesteaks Hoagies & Grill is partnering with Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson to bring five of the restaurants to the Houston market. The Detroit-based chain announced plans to expand to Texas, Florida, and California in April, according to CultureMap.

The restaurant is famous in the Motor City for its cheesesteaks named after celebrities, including the Winfrey (as in Oprah), topped with shaved chicken; the Italian Stallion (Sly Stallone’s nickname), with pepperoni, mozzarella and pizza sauce; and the Big Poppa (named after Notorious BIG), with lettuce, pickles and Thousand Island dressing. Vegan BBQ Houston Sauce Pit launches second food truck

Houston Sauce Pit, a mobile restaurant that serves up dishes like vegan brisket mac, meatless smoked “wangs” and loaded elote, is adding a second truck to its fleet. The first truck, which opened in January and took up residence at 5000 Almeda Road in March, sold out of food on a nearly daily basis, co-owner Jarett Milton said. The second truck will be parked at Power Center Food Park, 12401 S Post Oak Road, starting this weekend. Diners can follow both trucks on Instagram to keep tabs on daily specials.
