Blendin Coffee Club to Open Allen Parkway Location

Blendin Coffee Club, the Sugar Land coffee house helmed by a biochemist, will soon open a location in the Loop, in the Allen Parkway building formerly occupied by Stages Theatre. The 100-year-old building, at 3201 Allen Parkway just west of Waugh, is currently undergoing renovations and is expected to open to tenants within the next 60 days, Houston Business Journal reports. The theater moved to a brand new facility a few blocks away.

Blendin’s first location opened in Sugar Land in 2017, and is known for gourmet beans roasted in-house. Blendin recently placed third in the US Brewers Cup Championship.

FM Kitchen’s Montrose opening slated for fall

The opening of FM Kitchen’s second location, at 907 Westheimer Road, is now scheduled for Fall 2020. The much-anticipated gastropub, which serves up locally-sourced comfort food. will join quickly-expanding restaurant hub that also includes Velvet Taco Snooze A.M. Eatery, Katz’s Deli and Uchi. FM Kitchen’s first location opened in 2017 at Shepherd and Center streets.

FM Kitchen Montrose was originally supposed to open this summer, but plans were waylaid by the coronavirus. The new location will feature an all-new late night menu, according to a press release.

Taco Tuesday Team-Up to benefit women’s health

Tacos A Go Go is launching a new program called Taco Tuesday Team-Up, in which local women-owned restaurants collaborate with the taco purveyor to produce specialty tacos, the proceeds of which will benefit women’s health initiatives.

The event begins tomorrow, August 4, with Sticky’s Chicken, the fried chicken joint beloved by celebs. Proceeds from the taco, made with Sticky’s double-fried chicken and topped with cheese, pico, cilantro, Sriracha mayo and Sticky’s secret sauce, will go towards I’ll Have What She’s Having, a non-profit organization that unites hospitality professionals, medical professionals and others to raising awareness and funds for women’s health. The Sticky’s Fried Chicken Taco will be available at Tacos A Go Go every Tuesday in August. In September, the program with pair with Montrose bistro Riel for another specialty taco.
