There’s a shortage of Texas’s beloved Dr Pepper
The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc on supply chains everywhere, and now there’s a new shortage — Dr Pepper. The soft drink company posted to Twitter on August 10 that it was working hard to make sure stores were stocked with the soda as soon as possible. Other colas has also been in short supply due in part to an aluminum shortage as well as a disruption in the supply chain that delivers artificial sweeteners to soda companies, KHOU reports.

Karbach beer maker to open new brewery in Tomball
Chris Juergen, a brewmaster at Karbach Brewing Company, is launching his own brewery and restaurant in Tomball next year, according to the Houston Business Journal.
The as-yet-unnamed brewery will include 10,500 square feet of brewing area, a kitchen and dining room, and packaging and distribution space on 4.6 acres in the Tomball Business & Technology Park. It’s slated to break ground in later this fall and open during the second quarter of 2021. The new brewery will join Fire Ant Brewing and Bearded Fox, two other microbrews in Tomball.
Landry’s launches lobster delivery service
Landry’s, the Houston-based restaurant group owned by billionaire Tillman Fertitta, has launched a home delivery service that will bring extravagant meals like porterhouse steaks, lobster tails and seafood towers straight into diners’ homes. Landry’s Kitchen is Fertitta’s attempt to “pivot” during the coronavirus with cook-at-home meals including steaks, hamburgers and seafood. The billionaire, who owns more than 600 properties, has spoken repeatedly about how his restaurants, casinos and hotels have suffered from various statewide shutdowns and decreased occupancy.
The move isn’t Fertitta’s first foray into food delivery. In 2018, he bought Lake Charles, Louisiana-based food delivery app Waitr.
Healthy salad spot Coolgreens plots Houston expansion
Coolgreens, the “healthy lifestyle eatery” that allows diners to build their own salads alongside quinoa bowls, flatbreads and wraps, will soon be coming to Houston. The chain, whcih was founded in Oklahoma City in 2009, has announced that a Bayou City location will open sometimes later this year, according to Houstonia Magazine. There are already three locations in the Dallas area.
